Busting myths about change-work

Today I want to share with you a couple of client experiences to bust 2 myths about changework. I am sure you’d be able to relate to at least one of the two myths.

MYTH 1: Change takes time and is a difficult process.

MYTH2: Changework has to be serious and heavy.

In January I had a client come in for a single session of Coaching. We did only one session together to address a specific concern.

She was already in therapy and had discussed her problem there, however, the problem persisted. She chose to come into Coaching hoping it would resolve it once and for all.

Did we do it? Keep reading to find out, but I know you already know the answer.😉

For the purpose of this conversation let’s give this client the name “Sush”.

Sush came in saying that she was constantly overthinking about an event that had occurred a few months ago, and the people involved in it. One person, in particular, took up most of her mind space.

This is how the overthinking was affecting her life:

– It was distracting her from her work and studies.

– She would wake up thinking about the event and feeling anxious.

– She was judging herself and comparing herself to other people.

– It was triggering a thought process in her that said “I am not cool enough. Why would people like me? What I have to say isn’t interesting.”

Through the course of the conversation, we uncovered what thought process represented:

1) That she felt she had low self-confidence in social situations.

2) She felt anxious about relationships and intimacy.

I brought in some humour and we laughed quite a bit during the session. This in itself, laughter and humour, is enough to start creating change.

Near the end of the session, I could see her feel more confident in who she was and realise that she is actually a pretty cool person.

We wrapped up the session with an NLP exercise and a week later, she sent me this message.

She spent 60 mins in session and this is what happened!

MYTH BUSTEDChange can happen in an instant!

This is why I love the modality of NLP so much. It allows me to create instant shifts in your Unconscious mind and change your mindset and state in a matter of a few minutes!

On the surface, we were speaking about just one event. In addressing how she was feeling about that one event and changing her mindset, we addressed a whole set of deeper beliefs about intimacy, confidence and relationships.

When you come into a session and we create shifts in your mind, you can feel the change happen effortlessly in your life.

So you can come into a single session talking about a specific situation and it has a ripple effect in your life.

You can, of course, also come into a single session if you are feeling lost, confused or low.

Like yesterday I had a client come in saying she was feeling stuck, demotivated, burnt out and confused. We had a conversation, I asked her a few questions to open up her mind, and at the end of the 60 mins she left feeling refreshed and with some action steps to apply in her life to break out of the rut!

She just needed a space to share how she was feeling with a dose of perspective and some re-direction.

She sent me this message post the session ❤️❤

myths busted

MYTH BUSTEDChangework can leave you feeling refreshed and light.

In fact, yesterday in a session with another long-term Private Client, we addressed a memory that caused her to feel anger, pain and hurt. Thinking and talking about it made her body feel heavy and tired. We spoke about it to loosen the hold the feelings had on her and wrapped up with an exercise.

By the time she opened her eyes post the exercise she was smiling and she said she was feeling light.

My mission, right from the beginning, has to make changework fun and easy for you.

It doesn’t have to be heavy or serious. It can be light and easy, and I believe that is what causes a deep lasting change in you.

As you were reading this, it’s possible that your mind gave you something that you would like to address right now.

If you did have a memory, event or behaviour pop up in your head, and would like to address it, just like the clients above did, I got you!

You can book a single session with me right now right HERE.

You can share more myths to be burst in the comments.

Here’s to a fun you!

Love,
Raashi
