Redefining Success
I am writing this blog from my bed, while sipping coffee that I ordered in, from a beautiful blue mug that I love, after taking a 1 hr nap on a Wednesday afternoon – simply because I WANT to do it this way. This seemingly small and simple act is a success for me because I have created this life – where I can do what I want, whenever I want it.
There was a time, 10 years ago, when I couldn’t buy a coffee from a Cafe Coffee Day even when I wanted to because it would cause a sizable dent in my pocket. I used to allow myself the luxury of 1 coffee a month from there. So I deeply value the luxury now.
At the beginning of this year, in my personal vision for 2023, I wrote “Take a 1 month holiday”. As you probably already know, I took that holiday in the month of October. All of October I was in the States, and I took time off work during this time – spent time with my parents, hiked in Acadia National Park, met new people and ate delicious food. I was deeply present in every moment and not once did I feel the need to rush back to work. I felt extremely peaceful and content – And I trusted that when I got back, my business would still be thriving.
This is true success for me – to be able to LIVE my life, nurture my relationships and experience the entire spectrum of wealth in nature, love, money and health. All with the knowledge that my business is still supporting me.
When I got back to work, a Client mentioned, “When you run your own business you must have to force yourself to take time off work!”. To which I lovingly replied, “I decided to take time off work because that’s exactly why I chose to run my own business – freedom of time!”.
It struck me then, that a big limiting belief among business owners is – “I can’t take time off work.”.
If you are a business owner this is for you – you get to design your business in a manner that feels aligned with you.
I spent the first 2022 up-levelling and loving it!
I got certified in Telepathic Communication and as a Master Practitioner in NLP; launched new products and programs; made some massive moves in my business, hired a team and manifested my money goals. And I have decided that for the rest of the year, I am going to relax and enjoy the life I have created. Sure, I can still keep up-levelling, and I will when my soul guides me to, however, right now, this is what my body and soul need.
This for me is true success – to be able to decide that I want to take it slow to honour my body and soul. Not because I’m getting married or because of a life event – but because I want to; my soul is guiding me to.
Success in our society is defined from a very narrow, single-dimensional, masculine perspective.
- Climbing the corporate ladder.
- Tangible results or growth, like earning a certain amount of money or losing a certain amount of weight.
- Working for a reputed company in a certain position.
- Working hard and for long hours.
- Gaining Unicorn status for your start-up.
Yes, this is all to be celebrated! It’s just that it isn’t meant for ALL OF US. And it definitely isn’t meant to be our entire identity and our life.
You may feel the disconnect when you are living that perfect-on-paper life, but still have something missing.
How many people actually feel fulfilled with these things? How many feel satisfied with the results?
From a SOUL perspective, success is about feeling fulfilled!!
Success looks different for everyone; at a soul level!
What if we defined success for ourselves from a more holistic and wholesome perspective?
- Success is being able to drop your kids off at school & tucking them into bed.
- Success is feeling content in your life regardless of what’s going on on the outside.
- Success is being so deeply present in your life that all that matters is this present moment.
- Success is being able to enjoy Saturday night with your friends. Without thinking about how many calories the food has, or worrying about work.
- Success is being able to run your own business because you want to, instead of following the “plan” because it’s secure.
- Success is resting in a world that wants you to hustle.
- Success is living your truth in a world that wants everyone to be the same.
Every beautiful soul can keep adding to this list once they get down to defining their version of success.
It’s important to identify what success means to you & pursue that, instead of blindly chasing what society has defined as being successful.
When you pursue your version of success, you automatically feel more connected, content and aligned in your life.
This year I have had the honour of guiding so many Private Clients to a version of success that aligns with their truth. They had the courage to define it and then take the action to make it their reality. I am sharing snippets below, which I am sure will inspire you.
- One of my clients was working for his family business. It was comfortable and easy and the money was coming in. He had the courage to come into Coaching and say that he wanted to study further and build his own business in a field that he was passionate about. During the course of Coaching he spoke to his father, and with the support of the family started pursuing his passion. This is the path to success for him.
- Another client came in saying that he wanted to be unaffected by what happens in his environment. He was in a toxic work environment and wanted to feel peaceful within, no matter what was happening on the outside. Last week, a crisis came up at work, and when I asked him how he felt, he said “Relaxed and excited for the opportunities it will bring.” This is true success.
- Yesterday a client messaged me saying that in the last 2 weeks, she has been able to surrender and is going with the flow for her new program launch. She has overcome resistance as she creates a business that is in alignment with her values and vision, and most importantly from a place of love and trust. This is success!
I leave you to reflect on this today or over the weekend:
- How would you like to define success for yourself?
- How can you make it more authentic & wholesome?
- What truly fulfills and satisfies you?
As you answer these questions, you will notice an expansion in your heart that tells you
THIS IS MEANT FOR YOU!
All my love,
Raashi
